🧀🔥 Cheesy Spicy Tteokbokki Dumpling Skillet

(Trader Joe’s Hack Meal)


Serves: 2–3 | Time: 20 minutes



Ingredients



  • 1 bag Trader Joe’s Tteokbokki (Korean Spicy Rice Cakes)

  • 1 bag Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Dumplings

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1–2 tbsp oil (olive or avocado oil)

  • Spicy sauce packet (use to taste — it’s HOT )

  • Garlic powder (to taste)

  • Smoked paprika (to taste)

  • Dried parsley (for garnish)

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (as much as your heart wants )






Instructions



  1. Start the Base

    Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

    Add rice cakes + chicken broth.

    Let simmer for 5 minutes until softened.

  2. Add the Sauce

    Pour in a small amount of the spicy sauce packet (adjust for spice level).

    Stir until coated.

  3. Add Dumplings

    Gently place chicken dumplings into the skillet.

    Spoon sauce over them.

  4. Season It Up

    Sprinkle in:


    • Garlic powder

    • Smoked paprika

    • Parsley


  5. Simmer & Melt

    Cover with lid and let simmer 10 minutes on low.

  6. Cheese Finish

    Top with mozzarella.

    Cover again until melted and gooey.

  7. Serve & Enjoy

    Scoop, stretch that cheese, and enjoy





Jordan’s Tips (Creator Edition )



  • Want it creamier? Add 2 tbsp heavy cream before cheese.

  • Want it extra spicy? Drizzle chili oil on top.

  • Make it fancy? Top with green onions + sesame seeds.

  • Kid-friendly version: Skip most of the sauce + add more cheese.
